Sony opens a global incubator for entertainment projects on Soneium
The program announced on October 29 supports creators and companies developing services on the Soneium blockchain. Applications remain open through December, with selection scheduled to continue through March 2027.

Applications open through December
Sony Group announced the launch of the Sony Onchain Entertainment Incubation Program on October 29, 2026. The company is seeking projects that use blockchain to develop new relationships between creators, content and communities. The initiative targets companies and creators worldwide, with one central condition: their products must operate on Soneium or plan to join that network. This is a support program, rather than the announcement of a new cryptocurrency being offered to the public.
The application period starts on October 29 and runs through December 2026. Selection is scheduled from November 2026 to March 2027. Sony says that timeline may change depending on application numbers and the progress of evaluations. Applying therefore does not provide immediate access to the group's resources. Projects must first be reviewed and then agree on forms of assistance suited to their development and individual circumstances.
Commercial support beyond the technology
Selected teams may access Soneium's technical infrastructure and opportunities to work with Sony Group companies. The initiative also includes business development, marketing, community activities and fundraising opportunities. That list describes several possible forms of support. It does not mean every participant will receive funding, or that every service will be provided on identical terms to each selected project.
Sony wants to take products beyond technical validation toward usable experiences and commercialization. Its examples include interactions between artists and fans, community participation and new revenue sources connected to digital content. The announcement specifies neither a total financing envelope nor a guaranteed amount per team. It also names no future winners: applications come before that stage, and needs will be considered individually.
Projects assessed on their actual uses
The program will assess the originality of the entertainment experience, intellectual property use, community building and the business's ability to scale. Team experience and the competitive environment also form part of the evaluation. A creator's application therefore needs to explain what moving onto a blockchain adds to the proposed service. The presence of a digital asset alone demonstrates neither public interest nor the existence of a sustainable business model.
Sony places the initiative within its work around Soneium since 2024. According to the group, two previous programs have already selected and supported 43 projects in total. That figure is not the number of places in the new cohort, which has not been specified. Today's announcement opens a new process focused on entertainment. Initial results will depend on the projects actually selected, the cooperation agreements and their ability to turn prototypes into services.
