Strategy reports quarterly earnings dominated by gains on its bitcoin holdings
The company announces $19.53 billion in net income for the third quarter of 2026. Its results separate digital-asset gains, software revenue, and resources intended to meet financial obligations.

Bitcoin gains dominate the quarter
Strategy published results on October 29, 2026, for the quarter ended September 30. It reported $19.53 billion in net income and diluted earnings per common share of $44.75. Operating income reached $20.91 billion, almost entirely explained by the gain recorded on digital assets. These figures describe a past period and the accounting treatment of holdings; they do not represent cash received from selling all the bitcoin concerned.
Net income attributable to common stockholders was $19.12 billion after preferred-stock dividends. That distinction matters when comparing results: holders of different Strategy securities do not have the same seniority or financial rights. Company net income and earnings attributable to common shares are therefore not interchangeable. The release also provides a per-share figure, whose movement depends on both earnings and the number of shares included in the diluted calculation.
Software and cash remain separate line items
Quarterly operating revenue totaled $125.4 million, down 3% year over year. It must be distinguished from the billions in bitcoin gains. Revenue measures sales from the business; a change in asset value is another source of earnings. Presenting everything as commercial revenue would obscure the central feature of Strategy's model: the weight of its bitcoin reserve in performance and in the risks borne by investors.
At September 30, the company reported $2.50 billion in cash and cash equivalents and $3.40 billion in short-term investments. Other metrics in the release are dated October 25 and therefore do not describe precisely the same accounting snapshot. Mixing these dates can create apparent discrepancies without an error in the accounts. Separating the quarterly closing date from an operational update allows available resources to be tracked on a consistent basis.
A financing strategy still exposed to market conditions
As of October 25, Strategy reported holdings of 848,517 bitcoin, up 26% since the start of the year. The release also discusses preferred-stock repurchases and coverage of dividend and interest obligations. These points complement the holdings figure: a large reserve alone does not show future cash outflows. The company's financing instruments need to be examined under their individual terms rather than treated as a single undifferentiated debt.
The quarter's result does not guarantee the next quarter's earnings. Bitcoin price changes can strongly affect the reserve's carrying value, while financing conditions determine the ability to raise new capital. The new development here is publication of the accounts and their components, distinct from the previously announced dividend vote. Assessing the company's evolution will require tracking bitcoin holdings, dollar resources, obligations attached to its securities, and the software business's results together.
