A November 2 announcement, with permission dated October 13

Animoca Brands announced on November 2, 2026, that its subsidiary Animoca Asset Management (AD) Limited had received a Financial Services Permission from ADGM’s Financial Services Regulatory Authority, in Abu Dhabi’s international financial center. The authorized activity is managing collective investment funds in or from ADGM. The day’s new development is the company announcement. The public register gives an effective date of October 13, 2026; November 2 must therefore not be presented as the regulatory grant date.

The official entry identifies the subsidiary and permission number 250097, with active status when checked. It describes an ADGM private company limited by shares. That identity matters: permission given to a subsidiary for a defined activity cannot be extended without evidence to every group company, platform, or product. The release presents the development as strengthening Animoca’s institutional capabilities and Middle East expansion.

Two explicit register restrictions

The FSRA register specifies that the company may not deal with retail clients as defined in the applicable conduct rulebook. It also may not hold or control client assets. These conditions form part of the published scope even though the company release emphasizes fund management. The announcement is therefore neither unrestricted retail access nor universal authorization to custody clients’ crypto-assets.

The registered activity is managing a collective investment fund, with units in collective investment funds as the asset type. The company document provides no assets-under-management figure for this subsidiary, list of new funds already marketed under the permission, or subscription terms. An active permission does not establish those facts. Nor does it demonstrate a promised return or regulatory approval of every investment the group might consider.

Blockchain strategy is distinct from licensed scope

Animoca connects the development with its wider plans for institutional blockchain infrastructure, links between traditional finance and decentralized networks, tokenized assets, and agentic AI integrated with Web3. These are strategic directions presented by the company. They do not themselves change the activities and restrictions recorded in the register. The release announces no new token or specific technical deployment under this permission.

Minh Do, the subsidiary’s senior executive officer and director, highlights the intended connection between institutional capital and digital assets. ADGM Chief Market Development Officer Arvind Ramamurthy welcomes the expansion into fund management. These statements set out ambitions without quantifying completed commercial activity. The next verifiable developments are actual product announcements, their documentation, and any register changes. A group announcement, a defined authorization, and access to a particular offering remain distinct.
