CoinDCX recognizes a loss of 15.99 million USDT on legacy infrastructure
The platform attributes the incident to wallets removed from service and a failure of automatic deposit transfers. It claims to have absorbed the loss and maintained client balances.

A recognized loss after initial reports
CoinDCX recognized a loss of 15.99 million USDT linked to a legacy wallet infrastructure. In its October 25 update, the platform described unusual activity observed on October 21 followed by fund movements identified during blockchain data examination. The company stated it absorbed the loss. This communication clarified an incident that had raised public questions about the movements observed. It must be read with its date and with the limits of information provided by the platform.
The concerned wallet, according to CoinDCX, belonged to an operational infrastructure removed from service after the July 2025 incident. The platform explained that users nevertheless continued to send deposits to these old addresses. Their removal from the normal path did not therefore technically prevent new receipts. This situation distinguishes an address presented as obsolete from an address that became incapable of receiving assets on a blockchain.
Two separate processing steps
The company described a functioning in which received deposits were first credited to the client account, then moved by an automatic service to active wallets. This second mechanism would have ceased to function for a period, leaving funds to accumulate on an address removed from service. The incident thus highlights the difference between writing a balance in a user's account and the actual movement of assets that support that balance.
The separation of these operations can facilitate immediate access to a deposit, but it also requires monitoring of discrepancies between systems. A displayed balance does not, by itself, allow knowing the location of all corresponding assets. CoinDCX's explanation focuses on this operational chain. It does not describe a failure of the USDT stability mechanism nor a modification of the nominal value promised by its issuer.
Client assurances remain those of the platform
CoinDCX asserted that its active wallets and trading services continued to operate. The company assured that client deposits remain accounted for and that their funds are kept separately. These statements are those of the operator; they do not constitute independent certification of its reserves or of all its controls. The distinction allows reporting the available information without transforming a corporate communication into an audit conclusion.
The platform announced a strengthening of monitoring for residual systems and reminders regarding deposit addresses. The event highlights a concrete difficulty of infrastructure changes: flows can continue to reach components removed from the usual path. The confirmed balance in the communication is a recognized and borne loss by the company. The evolution of announced measures and of possible additional examinations will clarify the incident's continuation.
