Chainlink launches continuous pricing for tokenized assets, with Aave

A continuous reference beyond exchange trading hours

Chainlink presented Chainlink 24/7 on October 29, 2026, a data service for tokenized real-world-asset markets. It extends weekday coverage to weekends and holidays. Aave is the announced launch partner and is adopting feeds to value collateral on its institutional Horizon platform. The service addresses a mismatch: a token can circulate continuously while its referenced stock or other traditional asset does not trade at every hour on its original market.

The new series connects active-session data with an off-hours reference. When traditional markets close, Chainlink uses quotes from multiple perpetual-contract venues. The value must therefore not be read as the price of a new transaction executed on a closed exchange. It relies on derivatives activity linked to the asset. That provenance distinction remains important for understanding potential deviations and adapting risk decisions to conditions actually observed.

Filtered derivatives data during market closures

The service aggregates multiple sources, removes stale inputs, and limits the influence of outlier prices. The objective is to reduce reliance on a single venue in less active periods. Those mechanisms do not make underlying markets identical to a normal session. Available liquidity, participant numbers, and the way a derivative reflects new information can vary. Applications therefore need to retain the accompanying market context rather than read only an isolated number.

Chainlink distinguishes two delivery paths. Data Feeds publishes prices directly onchain, while Data Streams supplies low-latency data according to application needs. Reports in the latter identify the current session and provide additional information when markets are open. The arrangement aims to avoid each protocol rebuilding source-switching logic. Applications nevertheless remain responsible for deciding how to use prices and contextual signals.

Aave connects the feeds to collateral management

Aave uses the feeds for tokenized assets accepted as Horizon collateral, beginning with high-volume US equities. In lending, collateral valuation helps determine margins and potential liquidations. A reference during closures can improve position monitoring, but calculations must remain consistent with the ability to sell or hedge the asset. Continuous pricing is not a guarantee of immediate liquidity in every relevant market.

Chainlink also identifies perpetual contracts and certain prediction markets as potential uses. The service is a data component; it does not itself create rights to a security or permission to offer a financial product in a country. Results must be assessed through actual coverage, session-transition quality, and behavior during rapid moves. The announcement provides a technical response to the trading-hours gap, explicitly using a different method when traditional venues stop quoting.
