WalletConnect opens Stellar payments and plans an initial Bermuda integration

LOBSTR is announced as the first wallet available with WalletConnect Pay on Stellar. The Bermuda partnership starts with ticketing platform PTIX, whose payments are expected in the second quarter of 2027.

Stellar support and the Bermuda project have separate timetables

WalletConnect announced expanded Stellar support on October 29, 2026, and a partnership with Penrose Partners to develop merchant payments in Bermuda. The release distinguishes an available function from a future commercial rollout. LOBSTR is presented as the first wallet usable from the announcement with WalletConnect Pay on Stellar. Payments at Premier Tickets, or PTIX, are instead expected in the second quarter of 2027. This is therefore not immediate opening across every merchant on the islands.

Network support is intended to connect Stellar applications and wallets to the WalletConnect ecosystem. The announcement names Fireblocks, Utila, LOBSTR, and Arculus among actors involved in launch integrations. Technical connectivity facilitates requests between an application and wallet. It does not mean every partner product already has identical functions or every WalletConnect merchant automatically accepts all Stellar-issued assets.

PTIX plans payments directly to event organizers

The first announced Bermuda commercial use concerns event tickets. The planned journey sends payment from the customer's wallet to the organizer's wallet without PTIX holding funds. One ticketing integration could thus serve multiple independent organizers. This differs from centralized collection followed by later redistribution. The release describes the intended route; accepted assets, refunds, and final customer arrangements still need clarification as launch approaches.

Penrose Partners is to support merchant onboarding and local education. The partners also plan to apply to the Bermuda Monetary Authority's Innovation Hub to work with the regulator on rollout. That announced step does not amount to approval already granted for every service. It expresses an intention to engage and prepare. Regulatory and commercial milestones must retain their separate status rather than turning a planned application into validation of the entire project.

Everyday payments remain a rollout objective

The partnership supports Bermuda's government ambition to develop an economy using digital assets in everyday operations. The partners highlight traditional payment costs and constraints for an island economy. Stellar is intended to support rapid wallet-to-wallet settlement, but a blockchain transaction does not necessarily cover every stage of a purchase. Merchants also need accounting, refunds, and potentially local-currency use of receipts under services actually selected.

Next milestones will be genuine opening at PTIX and additional merchants rather than a theoretical count of accessible wallets. For now, two developments are verifiable: Stellar payment support announced as open with LOBSTR and a Bermuda project whose initial ticketing use is scheduled later. Separating them avoids presenting a roadmap as an already widespread payment network. The partnership's value will be measured through purchases actually possible and published terms for users and organizers.
